
Description:
Oradol is a
sterile eye drops containing ketorolac tromethamine.
Composition:
Each ml Oradol
sterile eye drops contains ketorolac tromethamine 5 mg.
Pharmacology:
Ketorolac
tromethamine is a nonsteroidal drug, which has analgesic and
anti-inflammatory activity. It inhibits the cyclo-oxygenase
enzyme essential for prostaglandin biosynthesis. Ocular
administration of ketorolac tromethamine reduces prostaglandin
E2 levels in the aqueous humour. Its ocular administration has
no significant effect upon intraocular pressure.
Indications:
Oradol sterile
eye drops is indicated for prophylaxis of surgery and
postoperative pain management. It is also indicated in ocular
allergy.
Dosage and
Administration:
Surgical
procedure: 1-2 drops 4 times daily, starting 24 hours before
surgery and continuing for 2-4 weeks. Ocular allergy: 1-2 drops
4 times daily continued for up to 4 weeks.
Contraindications:
It is
contraindicated in the patients who have known hypersensitivity
to any ingredients of this drug and also in the children.
Precautions:
Only for topical
ophthalmic use. It should be used carefully in the patients with
bleeding tendencies and patients with a known history of peptic
ulcer.
Use in
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safety in
pregnancy and lactation has not been established. Drug
Interactions: This drug has safely administered with systemic
and ophthalmic medications such as antibiotics, sedatives,
beta-blockers, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, miotics,
mydriatics, cycloplegics, local anaesthetics and corticosteroids.
Side-Effects:
Transient
burning and stinging on instillation and other minor symptoms of
ocular irritation. If any discomfort occurs, it is recommended
to consult with physician.
Storage:
Store at cool and dry place protected from light.
Use within one month after first opening. Keep out of the reach of children.

Plastic dropper bottle containing 5 ml Oradol sterile eye drops.
