Povidone-Iodine USP

(Antiseptic Solution)

 

Description:

Arodin Solution chemically polyvinylpyrrolidone-iodine is a complex of lodine and organic polymer, Povidone. It has a rapid and prolonged germicidal activity against a wide spectrum of pathogenic organisms including both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, protozoa, virus and yeasts. It is active against bacterial spores. Even it is active in the presence of blood, serum, purulent exudate and necrotic tissues.

Composition:

Arodin Solution 10% - A brown aqueous solution 10% containing Povidone-Iodine USP 10% w/v (1% w/v available Iodine).

Indications:

• Pre-operative and post-operative skin disinfection of surgical sites including vagina.

• As an antiseptic to aid the healing of ulcers, burns, minor injuries, etc., through reduction of infections.

• For the disinfection of hydrotherapy equipments.

• As a prophylactic anti-infective agent in hospital and office procedures.

• For the treatment of Acne vulgaris of the face & neck & pyogenic skin condition.

• Bacterial & myotic skin infections.

Directions for use:

Apply full strength as often as required as a paint or wet soak. For minor wounds and infection apply directly to the affected area. The site may be covered with gauze or adhesive bandage.

Contraindications:

Avoid regular use in patients with thyroid disorders or those receiving lithium therapy and who shows hypersensitivity to Iodine.

Side-effects:

Idiosyncratic mucosal irritation and hypersensitivity reactions rarely, may interfere with thyroid-function tests.

Precautions:

The application of Povidone-lodine to large wound or severe burns may produce systemic adverse effects such as metabolic acidosis, hypernatraemia and impairment of renal function. Use with caution in pregnancy and breast-feeding and renal impairment.

Storage:

Keep in a cool & dry place, away from light.

Arodin Solution 10% - Bottle containing 100 ml Solution.
