LOTION
Clindamycin

Description:
Clinex lotion, a topical antibiotic contains
Clindamycin Phosphate, which has anti-acne and antibacterial
activity. It binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome
and inhibits the early stage of protein synthesis. It is active
against most aerobic gram-positive bacteria as well as has good
activity against anaerobic bacteria.
Composition:

USP equivalent to Clindamycin 10 mg
Pharmacology:
Clindamycin Phosphate rapidly hydrolizes to active
clindamycin in vivo by tissue phosphatase. Clindamycin acts
as anti-acne agent due to its antibacterial activity. Topical
Clindamycin lotion is thought to reduce free fatty acid concentration
on the skin and to suppress the growth of Propionibacterium
acnes (Corynebacterium acnes), an anaerobe found in sebaceous
glands and follicles.
