MECOL

Mecobalamin

 

Description:

Mecol is a Mecobalamin preparation that has been developed as a drug for peripheral neuropathies.

Composition:

Each film coated tablet contains Mecobalamin INN 0.5 mg.

Pharmacology:

Biochemically, Mecobalamin is a vitamin B12 containing coenzyme with an active methyl base. It participates in transmethylation reactions and is the most active of all B12 homologs in the body with respect to nucleic acid, protein and lipid metabolism. Mecol acts to repair damaged nerve tissue in nerve disorders such as axonal degeneration and demyelination.

Indications:

Peripheral neuropathies (for example, diabetic and alcoholic neuropathy, drug induced neuropathy, lumbago, entrapment neuropathy, intercostal neuralgia and diabetic retinopathy and other neuropathies).

Dosage & administration:

Usually for adults, orally administer 1 tablet 3 times a day (1.5 mg of Mecobalamin). The dosage should be adjusted according to the age of patients and the severity of symptoms.

Contraindication:

Hypersensitivity to any component of this product.

Precaution:

The medicine should not be used for months if there is no response at all after its use for a certain period of time.

Side-effects:

Loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhoea or other symptoms of gastrointestinal upsets may infrequently appear.

Storage:

This medicine is unstable in light. It should be stored and protected from light. Keep out of the reach of children.

Packing:

Each box contains 5×10’s tablets in blister pack.
