Ivactin Tablet: Each film-coated tablet contains Ivermectin BP 3 mg.
Ivactin (Ivermectin), a broad-spectrum anti-parasitic agent, is used in human for the treatment of scabies, filariasis and other parasitic diseases.
Ivermectin is used in the treatment of scabies caused by Sarcoptes scabiei and filariasis caused by Wuchereria bancroft.
Dosage & Administration
Scabies: 150-200 mcg/kg of body weight as a single dose. Treatment may be repeated after 7 to 14 days.
Pediculosis (Head lice): 200 mcg/kg body weight as a single dose. Treatment may be repeated after 7 to 14 days.
Filariasis: 20 to 200 mcg/kg of body weight as a single dose.
Onchocerciasis: 150 mcg/kg as a single dose. Treatment may be repeated after 3-12 months. Strongyloidiasis: 200 mcg/kg as a single dose.
It is contraindicated in bronchial asthma and patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this product.
Warning & Precautions
Stop taking Ivermectin and contact the physician in case of allergic reactions.
Common side effects are nausea, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea or constipation, muscle or joint pain, swelling of the lymph nodes, fever, tiredness, dizziness, itching, eyelid swelling or eye redness and tremor.
Use of Ivermectin with diazepam and related tranquilizers as well as any monoamine oxidase inhibitor may exaggerate the sedative effect.
Use in special groups
Use in Children: Safety and efficacy have not been established for infants and children weighing less than 15 kg.
Use in Pregnancy and lactation: Safety and efficacy have not yet been established for pregnant and lactating women.
